Australia's Leading Range of Thermally Broken Aluminium Windows and Doors

Dawes Residence

This amazing project is located in the city of Canberra, which is typically known for it's hot summers and cold winters. When Tony Trobe was designing the Dawes Residence, he was working on a strict brief to maximise views of the client's surrounds as well as ensure there were connections between the indoors and outdoors.

Tony Trobe decided to use the AWS range of ThermalHEART™ windows and doors as the range allowed him to use large spans of glazing without compromising the thermal efficiency of the home. Tony Trobe was pleased with the fact that the ThermalHEART™ range of aluminium windows and doors allowed for similar, if not better thermal performance than timber whilst also ensured durability and minimal maintenance. Architect Tony Trobe had many ideas to ensure thermal efficiency in this home and fabricator Viewco Glass assisted him in making this happen.

With the guidance of window and door manufacturer Viewco, louvre windows were used throughout the top of the building to work as a "thermal chimney". The louvres work thermostatically, once the temperature reaches a certain degree, the louvres open to let all the hot air out which is perfect for the Canberra summer.
