Contemporary Aluminium Windows and Doors for your lifestyle

It’s a simple and streamlined solution, its got the robustness

James Goodlet

Building Designer

This sleek, architecturally designed home is located in Rosebud, a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.

The project started out as a replacement building for a fibro shack, which has grown into an architecturally inspired, carefully designed home. James Goodlet of Altereco Design was chosen to ensure the clients’ dream home came to life.

The home’s focus is on creating open living spaces and aconnection with the outdoor environment. James Goodlet has created this sense in the home with high ceilings and heightened glazing. Fixed windows are coupled with sliding doors in the home’s living space and the owners’ retreated bedroom area to ensure views were maximised.

Due to the large size of the openings, the large expanses of glass throughout the home and the extreme climate in Rosebud, the windows and doors required double glazing to ensure thermal efficiency.

Designer James Goodlet was fearful that the large size double glazed units would be a problem due to the weight of each panel, and the clients’ children not being able to operate them.

Strong rollers and heightened hardware from the Vantage range enabled the windows and doors to operate smoothly throughout the home as they glide along the tracks.

Working with the team at Windows by Design, the designer and clients were able to resolve a few details and use the Vantage systems unconventionally Due to the design flexibility in the Vantage aluminium window and door systems, James Goodlet was able to make small changes to the window and door combinations to ensure the brief for each room was met - either to catch the breeze or maximise views.
