Australia's Leading Range of Thermally Broken Aluminium Windows and Doors

This home is located right on the lake-side in Hamilton,Victoria. Upon the completion of this home, it was to be auctioned off to raise much needed funds for the Western District Health Service.Western District Health Service called upon the assistance of local businesses to help them create a house that was to be of the highest quality.The brief of the project to Chris Steel Design was that the home was to be contemporary, environmentally friendly and maximised the stunning lake views, so that when auctioned, it would reap the highest return possible for hospital funding.

In order to maximise views of the lakeside, this home required a large quantity of windows and doors. This in turn meant the glazing system was to be extermely thermally efficient. Local aluminium window and door supplier Portland Aluminium and Glass worked closely with builders and designers to ensure the correct glazing system was used for this application.

Portland Aluminium and Glass utilised the ThermalHEART™ range of systems to complete this project. Thermally broken aluminium window and door systems delivered a number of benefits to this project. They offered substantially improved thermal performance, which improved the energy efficiency the home and being manufactured from aluminium, they offer a sustainable end-of-life solution despite the lakeside location.

ThermalHEART™ Series 731 sliding stacking doors were used in this home to maximise the water views to the back of the house.ThermalHEART™ Series 726 awning and fixed windows with double glazed units incorporating Low-E glass coatings were used throughout the home to improve the insulating performace of the large expanses of glass. The Low-E glass coatings on the glass reflects long wave infrared back to the heat source, meaning the heat created within this home is reflected back into the building to make it more energy efficient.
